Mediated Spatiotemporal Registration of Cardiac DCE-MRI and Coronary MR Angiography

چکیده
Patient-specific correlation of perfusion defects to coronary arteries which are responsible for blood supply in the affected territories has the potential to improve accuracy of diagnosis and intervention planning. The correlation of coronary arteries and perfusion defects can be established through registration of 3D angiography and 2D perfusion datasets. However, cardiac cycle phase mismatch between angiography and perfusion datasets causes the vast variation of the myocardium shape in these datasets and precludes the use of the standard methods for 2D/3D registration. Research published to date does not provide a reliable method of registering 2D perfusion and 3D angiography datasets. This paper presents an approach for non-rigid registration of 2D perfusion and 3D angiography data; the solution to the registration problem relies on the use of the 4D (3D + time) cine series to mediate non-rigid registration of perfusion and angiography datasets. The approach is evaluated on clinical data and its performance is compared with previously suggested methods for perfusion and angiography registration. The evaluation results show the utility of the presented method in the context of perfusion analysis while highlighting its applicability to other areas of cardiac image analysis.

Patient-specific coronary blood supply territories for quantitative perfusion analysis
Myocardial perfusion imaging, coupled with quantitative perfusion analysis, provides an important diagnostic tool for the identification of ischaemic heart disease caused by coronary stenoses. The accurate mapping between coronary anatomy and under-perfused areas of the myocardium is important for diagnosis and treatment. However, in the absence of the actual coronary anatomy during the reporti...
متن کاملDynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors
Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...

متن کاملQualitative Perfusion Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Lacks Sensitivity in Detecting Cardiac Allograft Vasculopathy
BACKGROUND Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) is a major complication after heart transplantation, requiring frequent surveillance angiography. Though cardiac angiography is the gold standard, it is insensitive in detecting transplant vasculopathy and invasive. Perfusion MRI provides a noninvasive alternative and possibly a useful modality for studying CAV. We sought to compare the accuracy o...
